52nd Year of Wasteful Struggle Left an NPA Member to Death in MisOr

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – A male cadaver was recovered during the conduct of pursuit operations by the 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion (IB), Misamis Oriental Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and 1001st Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB10) at the hinterlands of Barangay Binakalan, earlier today, March 29, 2021.

It can be recalled that an encounter transpired last 28 March 2021 in the hinterlands of Barangay Samay in Gingoog City, which initially resulted to the recovery one M16 rifle, one short magazine for M16, four magazines for AK47, one Signus radio, one cellular phone with simcard, nine rounds 40mm ammunition, assorted medical paraphernalia, and subversive documents.

Following the encounter, joint pursuit operations was conducted and found the lifeless body of a male NPA fighter at around three in the afternoon, who was later identified as by former rebels as Oliver Hulliao alias Reynan Platoon Guide of Platoon Cherry Mobile, Guerilla Front huawei of Sub-Regional Committee 1, and a resident of Sitio Lantad, Barangay Kibanban, Balingasag.

“Today marks the 52 years of the Communist NPA Terrorists’ needless armed revolt, and they continue to use other people’s lives for their greedy interests and evil cause,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ricky L Canatoy, Commanding Officer of the 58th Infantry Battalion.

“To emphasize the commemoration of their anniversary, they carry out terroristic acts and crimes throughout the country simultaneously. For what purpose? All for naught. Yet another life was lost today as a result of their actions. Our sincere condolences to the bereaved family. Another life is wasted. This has to come to an end right now. Now is the time to surrender and turn away from this imprudent cause. Since the Army would not hesitate to use force against peacebreakers and other threat groups that continue to use terrorism as a cowardly and unreasonable means of achieving their goals.” Lt. Col. Canatoy ended.

The recovered cadaver was then brought to funeral homes in Gingoog City to give him a decent and proper turn-over to his family.
