Madrid, Surigao del Sur –the army’s of 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion distributed school supplies and food packs donated by the GMA Kapuso Foundation Incorporation to the children of Barangay Tigabong and Barangay Buntalid all of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur last March 16, 2021 at around 8:00 in the morning, followed by the distribution of relief goods at Sitio Mahanon, Barangay Maitum, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur last March 17, 2021 at around 9:00 in the morning and Sitio Ibuan, Brgy Mampi, Lanuza, SDS also received their food packs from the GMA Inc., last, 22 March 2021.
A total of 301 children from Brgy Tigabong and Brgy Buntalid, Cantilan, of this province received school bags with notebooks, paper, crayon, pencil, toothbrush, toothpaste, bath soap, ball toy, alcohol and food packs.
Meanwhile, a total of 200 children and 161 household from Sitio Ibuan, Brgy Mampi received their food packs donated by the GMA Kapuso Foundation Incorporation together with the Provincial Tourism Office headed by Miss Mary Vil C. Chan, Provincial Tourism Officer.
Meanwhile, a total of 65 families from Sitio Mahanon, Barangay, Maitum Tandag City, SDS received relief goods that contains assorted canned goods, noodles, multivitamins, and 5 liters of mineral water and used clothing donated from Ateneo de Davao HS Batch 96 and GS Batch 92.
It can be recalled that some areas of the CARAGA Region experienced massive flooding caused by the tropical storm “Auring” last February 22, 2021 that forced residents to evacuate.
The beneficiaries thanked the GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc., Ateneo de Davao HS Batch 96 and GS Batch 92 as well as the 36IB for bringing them the support they need.
In his statement of Lt Col Jezreel Diagmel, Commanding Officer of 36IB stressed, “As a partner in addressing the peace and security in the province, it is also our mandate to serve and protect the people from any calamities and natural disaster. We will find ways to help the peace-loving Surigaonons.”
