CGPA visits 88 Infantry “Maringal” Battalion

Maramag Bukidnon – MGEN ANDRES C CENTINO, Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) visited 88th Infantry “Maringal” Battalion, at Purok 10, South Poblacion, Maramag Bukidnon on September 16, 2021. He is accompanied by MGEN ROMEO S BRAWNER JR, Commander of Joint Task Force Diamond; BGEN PHILIP S LAPINID, Commander Installation Management Command and BGEN FERDINAND T BARANDON, Commander 403rd Brigade.

The CGPA personally congratulated the Officers and Men the 88th IB for their significant accomplishments. It can be recalled that on September 08 and 10, 2021, a separate armed encounter transpired in San Fernando and Valencia City all of Bukidnon respectively between troops of 88IB and Guerrilla Front Malayag of the Sub Regional Command 2 (SRC2) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committees (NCMRC) which resulted to four (4) CNTs killed, fourteen (14) captured of which four (4) were minors (Child-Soldiers), twenty-two (22) High Powered Firearms (HPFAs) recovered along with other subversive documents of high intelligence value.

Likewise, on September 15, 2021, joint AFP-PNP Law Enforcement Operation led by the troops of 88IB successfully arrested a certain Loida Magpatoc alias @Gwen/Emyang/Kudaw/Robby, a top ranking CPP member the arrested personality was a former secretary Far South Mindanao Regional Party Committee (FSMR), NDF consultant and CPP-NPA-NDF Terrorist Central Committee member at Purok 3, Brgy Paitan, Quezon, Bukidnon.

The CGPA also commended the unit for maintaining the peace and security situation in its area of operation. “Your untiring services and sacrifices have greatly contributed in the accomplishment of the Army’s mission”, MGEN CENTINO said.

In his statement, LTC CHRISTIAN JAMES P VINGNO, expressed his warmed appreciation for the visit and for all the support that higher headquarters provide. Maringal Troopers will continue to go the extra mile to provide excellent service to the people of Bukidnon and help facilitate the creation of conflict resilient communities. Vingno Said.
