Lianga, Surigao Del Sur – Operating troops of 3rd Special Forces (Arrowhead) Battalion clashes against an armed group on Thursday, around 3:40 o’clock in the afternoon, at the vicinity of Brgy. Marfil, Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
On October 6, 2021, a concerned citizen informed the operating troops of 3SFBn over the presence of the armed group at Brgy. Marfil, Rosario, Agusan del Sur. This prompted the unit to launch an operation at the said area.
The people of Marfil, Rosario, Agusan del Sur reported the presence of armed group in the area to prevent their resurgence after enjoying peace and security with the dissolution of GF14 as a fruit of their support to the efforts of government forces.
As a result, an encounter ensued against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTGs) believed to be elements of Sub-Regional Sentro De Gravidad Southland (SRSDG SL) under Rizaldy Sumunod Y Sumubay @Mansoy of North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee.
There were no casualties on the government side while undetermined on the part of the fleeing terrorists. Recovered from the encounter site were several 7.62mm linked ammunition, subversive documents, assorted medicines, and the discovery of their hideout along the ridgeline.
Lt. Col. Benedict Harvey L Gernale, the Commanding Officer of 3rd Special Forces (Arrowhead) Battalion relayed that the Philippine Army units will continue their security operations without let-up until these lawless elements are decimated so as to achieve peace and inclusive growth in our area but continuously call on them to surrender, return to the folds of the law, and start a new life so as not to suffer an ill-fated life.
