Security of Camiguin’s Critical Installations and Businesses enhanced with workshop and SimEx

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – In coordination with the Camiguin Police Provincial Office (PPO) and other government forces, the 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion conducted workshop on Critical Investment Infrastructure Protection and Security Operations (CIIPSO) and a Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) on Arson Activities by Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) at the municipality of Mambajao, Camimguin from October 9 to 10, 2021.

Police officers and personnel from the province and different municipalities participated the events. Representatives from PCG, BJMP, BFP, ABC presidents and Construction firms were also present.

CIIPSO workshop focuses primarily on the creation of a comprehensive joint operational plan in securing critical investment infrastructures in the province. The participants discussed and brainstormed ways of delineating security efforts to protect infrastructures and deter arson activities, including how to refuse or prevent the Communist Terrorist Groups (CNTs) from extorting large and small businesses in the province. Moreover, the participants also focused on exchanging of ideas on how to engage business owners in the joint security operation plan, determining security gaps of the micro and macro businesses in the area, creating a patrol and visitation plan, and establishing an effective reporting system among each other through an efficient medium of communication.

The following day, a simulation exercise of the workshop was performed by the abovementioned government forces. Its aim is to dramatize an arson drill that resulted in property damage, such as a heavy machinery backhoe, as well as wounded victims who would be dealt with by numerous departments, including the affected area’s Municipal Police Station, the 58IB, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the EODK9 Units of Police Provincial, Municipal Local Government Operations Office (MLGOO) and other concerned agencies. The simulation also culminated in the harmonious involvement of multiple entities in the resolution of such atrocities, murders, and disasters.

Lt. Col. Ricky L. Canatoy, Commanding Officer of 58IB said that the workshop on CIIPSO is encompassing not only the insurgency problems. But also, this campaign covers not only insurgency issues, but also various disasters and crimes that occur within the community. Simex drills will undoubtedly bring our forces together in equipping and training our protectors against those who seek to create confusion and conflict in the province.
