Lianga, Surigao Del Sur – Two (2) members of the Communist Terrorists Group (CTG) surrendered to 9th Special Forces Company of the 3rd Special Forces (Arrowhead) Battalion last November 27, 2021 at Brgy. St. Christine, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.
Raniel Engayas Belandres, also known as @Darren, 20 years old a resident of Sitio Panukmuan, Brgy. Diatagon, Lianga voluntarily surrendered with his improvised M79 firearm. With him is Warren Wagdos Acebedo, also known as @Cassey, 18 years old, a resident of Sitio Neptune, Brgy. Diatagon, Lianga. They revealed that they were extremely pressured and exhausted due to sleepless nights, limited supplies and fatigue as they continuously evade the intensified military operation of our troops. The said surrenderers were members of Squad 1 and Squad 2 of Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad Southland (SRSDG SL), Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).
They further disclosed that they were recruited and offered false promises by Anmat Untua @Chad of the same communist terrorist group. It can be recalled that last June 14, 2021, a minor, who was rescued during an encounter, revealed that Anmat Untua also forcefully wanted her to join the armed group.
The surrenderers are now under the custody of the 3SFBn for debriefing and will be subsequently enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integrated Program (ECLIP).
Lt. Col. Benedict Harvey L Gernale, the Commanding Officer of 3rd Special Forces (Arrowhead) Battalion continuously call on to the remaining members of the CTGs to surrender, return to the folds of the law, and avail the services offered by the government.
