IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON – Justice has been served after the death of Jorge “Ka Oris” Madlos, 72, the Commander and spokesperson of the National Operations Command (NOC) of the New People’s Army nationwide; Member, Central Committee – EXECOM/Politburo; and Spokesperson of the National Democratic Front – Mindanao, at the hinterlands of Sitio Gabunan, Impasugong, Bukidnon last October 30, 2021.
It can be recalled that Ka Oris together with Eighfel Dela Peña alias Pika/Maui, Communications Staff and Medical Staff of NOC, died after a legitimate encounter between the combined troops of the 8th Infantry Battalion, 1st Special Forces Battalion, and 88th Infantry Battalion under the command of the 403rd Infantry Brigade. Troops afterward were able to recover one M14 Rifle, one KG9 Rifle, and ammunition of different caliber, other war materiel, and assorted personal belongings.
Ka Oris, who has for decades led terroristic activities in the Philippines especially in Mindanao, is recorded as the topmost wanted NPA commander in the country facing multiple criminal cases such as robbery with double homicide, damage to properties, multiple murder, and double frustrated murder, and murder. These cases stem from his crimes of killing countless innocent civilians including the Indigenous People (IP) members, CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) members, and soldiers.
Datu Renato Sumbongan, the IP Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of Malaybalay City, stated “Sa pagpanguna ni Ka Oris sa una, ang mga lumad nailad nga mokuyog kanila, duna pay namatay apil nga tribal leaders nga matud pa dunay kalapasan kanila ug naa usab mga equipment nga ilang gipang sunog. Isip IPMR sa syudad sa Malaybalay nagatuo ako nga nakab-ot na namo ang hustisya sa iyang kamatayon.” (Headed by Ka Oris before, the IPs were deceived to join them, there were tribal leaders killed because of alleged violations against them and there were many equipment burned. As the IPMR of the City of Malaybalay I believe that we have already received justice after his death.)
LTC Edgardo Talaroc Jr, Commander 8IB, expressed, “Dugay na nga nagkahinam nga makabaton og hustisya ang atong mga kaigsuonang IP lakip mga sundalo ug CAA nga nabiktima sa mga CPP-NPA-Terrorist nga gipangunahan ni Ka Oris. Karon ila na gyud kining nakab-ot.” (Our IP brothers and sisters, along with the soldiers and CAA, have long been waiting for justice after being victims of the CPP-NPA Terrorists headed by Ka Oris. Now, they already achieved it.)
