Three Peoples Organization receive Farmers Assistance under the Barangay Development Project of TF-ELCAC

MARAMAG, Bukidnon – On 17 February 2022, the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, through the Provincial Agriculture Office, Department of Interior and Local Government-Bukidnon, Local Government Unit of Cabanglasan and the 88th Infantry Maringal Battalion, successfully facilitated the turn-over and distribution of fifty nine (59) Cattle to the three (3) Peoples Organizations in Barangay Cananga-an, Cabanlasan Bukidnon, the said Farmers Assistance is part of the implementation of Support to Barangay Development Project (SBDP) from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), a simple turn-over ceremony was held at Barangay Covered Court of Barangay Cananga-an, Cabanglasan Bukidnon.

Umayamnon-Catablaran Farmers Association (UCFA) received nineteen (19) Cattle, Umayamnon-Saluringan Farmers Association (USFA) received twenty (20) Cattle and Tagbacan-Tumbaga Farmers Association (TAGTUFA) received twenty (20) Cattle respectively. The recipients of the said Farmers Assistance of SBDP are former members of the so called Underground Mass Organizations (UGMO) of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), who turned into pro-government Peoples Organization thru comprehensive conduct of Community Support Program of the Philippine Army in CY 2020.

Before, Barangay Cananga-an, particularly Sitios of Catablaran, Saluringan, Tagbakan and Tumbaga is considered as the CTG’s stronghold, because its location is in a geographically isolated and disadvantaged area (GIDA) wherein most of the residents are Indigenous Peoples of Umayan Tribe.

LTC CHRISTIAN JAMES P VINGNO, Commanding officer of 88IB, expressed his gratitude for the full support of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, other partner agencies and stakeholders for the implementation of the BDP projects. He further states, that the 88IB will continue to facilitate the creation of conflict resilient communities by addressing the armed component of the Communist Terrorist Group to ensure peace and order in the province of Bukidnon.

The Barangay Development Program (BDP) CY 2021 is the hallmark program of the NTF-ELCAC, it also aims to established development to former conflict-ridden communities. The BDP is directed to the sustainable rehabilitation and development of 822 barangays in the country formerly established as guerilla fronts of the CPP-NPA-NDF. Each barangay is provided with 20 million pesos for their respective projects, with a total of 16.44 billion pesos of allocated funding.
