4ID continues Disaster Operations for Typhoon Odette victims in Caraga

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division’ continue to conduct Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations in Caraga region to assist the victims of Typhoon Odette

On March 2, the troops of 42nd Civil-Military Operations Company under the 4th CMO Battalion, jointly with the 30th Infantry Battalion, facilitated the distribution of assorted relief goods to 500 households from Barangay Quezon, Barangay Mapawa and Barangay Cabongbongan, all of Surigao City and Barangay Salvacion of Taganaan, Surigao del Norte. The relief goods were donated by Armed Forces of the Philippines Finance Center (AFPFC) with a theme “AFPFC Typhoon Odette: Oplan Tabang VisMin, We Rise by Lifting Others”,

It can be recalled that in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, the 4ID, in partnership with the Regional Task Force-ELCAC Northern Mindanao, launched the Hashtag Bangon VisMin Typhoon Odette Donation Drive, to help the affected communities. The people positively responded to this call as manifested by the outpouring of donations from various groups.

On the other hand, the Commander Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC), LtGen Greg T. Almerol visited the badly-hit areas and made the report in an onsite press briefing on the damage assessment as well as on the continuing relief efforts of the EMC, .

Major General Wilbur C Mamawag, 4ID Commander, said “We will work closely with partner stakeholders to uplift the condition of the typhoon-affected families in Mindanao and the Visayas, even as we continue to perform our primary task of protecting the people and securing the land from threats of the remaining members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).”
