4ID receives back to back Recognition from Peace Partners

CAMP EVANGELISTA, PATAG, CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The 4th Infantry Division and its line units received back to back recognition from partners for peace and development in a separate awarding ceremony held on March 24 and 25.

In an appreciation lunch on March 24 at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel, the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security Region 10 (CORDS-X) Secretary Martin M. Andanar, personally awarded the Plaque of Recognition to Col Joel M. Paloma, the Assistant Division Commander who received the award in behalf of Maj. Gen. Wilbur C. Mamawag. Likewise, the same award was also given to Brig. Gen. Ferdinand T. Barandon, Commander of the 403rd Brigade as well as the Interim Chairperson of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict-10 Technical Working Group.

During the activity, Secretary Andanar acknowledged the people behind the string of successes of the RTF-ELCAC in Northern Mindanao. Aside from 4ID, other Regional Directors and Heads of the Task Force’s Lines of Efforts were also given the same recognition.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region-10 recognized some officials from the AFP, PNP and Coast Guard as partners in carrying out the mandate of the DSWD during the “Salamat Po” Awards Ceremony held in connection 71st Founding Anniversary of DSWD on Friday, March 25.

Those who received the awards from the DSWD were MGen Mamawag together with Brig. Gen. Ferdinand Barandon, Colonel Emil Cruz, Deputy Brigade Commander of the 402nd Infantry Brigade, Lt. Col. Ricky Canatoy, 58th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer; Lt. Col. Anthony Bacus, 8th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer; Lt. Col. Vercisio San Jose Jr, 1st Special Forces Battalion Commanding Officer; Lt. Col. Christian James Vingno, 88th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer, who was represented by 1Lt Sancho Tomaquin Jr., 88IB’s Civil-Military Operations Officer; Lt. Col. Henry Pabelonio, Task Force Oro Commanding Officer; and Lt. Col. Jenny De Mesa, the Deputy G7, 4ID as well as the Chief of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict 10 Operation Center in 4ID.

General Andres C. Centino, the Chief of the Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, also received the same awards.

These awards are indeed a testament of the cohesive partnership between the DSWD Region 10 and the AFP, fortified under the working mechanisms of the Executive Order Number 70, the Act institutionalizing the Whole of Nation Approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace. Your trust and confidence in us serves as a motivation for us to always do our best to accomplish our given mission. In behalf of the Joint Task Force Diamond, we are in support to all the endeavors of mutual concern,” MGen Mamawag said.
