NPA member’s skeletal remains, exhumed in MisOr

CLAVERIA, MISAMIS ORIENTAL – The 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion together with the MISOR PFU SOCO, Barangay Council and CVO, have retrieved the skeletal remains of an alleged NPA member at Sitio Minkasi, Brgy Mimbuntong, Gingoog City, May 02, 2022.

Due to the cooperation and revelation of a former rebel who surrendered to this unit, the gravesite was discovered. According to the former rebel, during their encounter in December 2019, a certain Romy Ayuma, alias Anot, a member of PPH, GF 4B, SRC 1, NCMRC, was killed and buried in the area while attempting to elude government forces.

The troops also discovered that the buried skeletal remains’ shirt had been hit by a bullet on the abdominal side. The remains were then brought to Mata Funeral Homes in Gingoog City for proper disposition and examination. Immediately after, this unit informed the family of the proper turnover and burial.

Lt. Col. Ricky L. Canatoy, Commanding Officer, 58IB said, “Alias Anot could be one of many NPA members abandoned by the armed group to die alone in the hinterlands. Because NPA rebels have no regard for human life, as evidenced by their practice of leaving wounded comrades to die in the hinterlands, as happened to Anot.”

“I am urging the NPA members still hiding in Misamis Oriental’s hinterlands to come down in peace, lay down their arms, and return to the fold of the law while there is still time and opportunity.” Put an end to this way of life: endless suffering in vain, with no regard for your own or others’ lives.” Lt. Col. Canatoy ended.
