4ID, DSWD-10 signs MOU to formalize partnership for GAD programs

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 10 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Gender and Development (GAD) programs earlier today May 10, 2022, at the Alcoseba Hall, 4ID, Camp Evangelista.

The 4ID-DSWD partnership aims to implement, improve, and synchronize the efforts of all Enlisted Women (EW) personnel in delivering social welfare and development programs, particularly in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). It also endeavors to advocate gender and development concerns which enable the beneficiaries to engage in society as empowered individuals free from gender bias and discrimination. As well as to determine a balanced, sustainable, and violence-free workplace.

The ceremonial signing was attended by DSWD-10 Regional Director Mari-flor A Dollaga-Libang and 4ID Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs (ADC-RRA) Colonel Michele B Anayron Jr with the presence of 4ID officers, enlisted personnel, and other DSWD officials.

Col Anayron Jr on the signing of partnership stated, “In all endeavors, we plan for the greater good, let us be reminded that true development should create growth that makes up for mass equity and will empower one’s potential. Above all, specific to today’s cause, the agreement we are making will solve the problems regarding gender bias and discrimination that prevent violence against women and girls, for it is essential in our economy.”

The 4ID led by Major General Wilbur C Mamawag is hopeful that the collaboration with DSWD will strengthen the peace-building initiatives in attaining good governance which will further translate to a reduction of gender-based violations and the overall improvement of women’s situation in the military as seen within the communities they serve.
