10 CNT members yield to the government

TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur – 10 regular members and Milisyang Bayan (MB) members of the CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) surrendered to Lt Col Sandy R Majarocon, Acting Commanding Officer, 26IB, 4ID, PA on 02 August 2022 at the Battalion Main Command Post, Brgy Zamora in the said municipality.

The unit’s relentless Focused Military Operations (FMOs) and strengthened partnership and collaboration with the Local Government Units (LGUs) and IP leaders through the LTF-ELCAC paved way for the voluntary surrender of 10 NPA members composed of five (5) regular members from Platoon BANGLAS and 2 regular members from Platoon SAGAY both of Sub-Regional Committee 3, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) and 1 regular member from Pltn 3, KAIZER, HQF NEO, NCMRC and two (2) Milisyang Bayan (MB) members of Pltn BANGLAS. They also surrendered six (6) high-powered firearms and four (4) low-powered firearms consisting of two (2) M16 rifles, one (1) AK47 rifle, one (1) Carbine rifle, two (2) Garand rifles, two (2) KG9, one (1) shotgun and one (1) Uzi sub-machinegun with live ammunition.

Anxious for their life and security, hardships, and being away from their family, these rebels decided to surrender and abandon the terrorist movement and subsequently denounces the atrocities and exploitation of the terrorist groups in their communities.

In an interview, alias “Jerwin”, a Team Leader of Squad 2, Platoon Banglas, of SRC 3, NCMRC, furiously expressed his feelings as he reminisces his troubled life-long experience in the armed group and loneliness for being far from his family.

The surrenderees will now undergo various types of assessment and documentation for their enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government where these former rebels will be assisted in their reintegration into the mainstream society and be able to start a better life. They will also be given training on Agricultural Land Cultivation offered by Technical Education, Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) – Agusan del Sur in partnership with the LGU-Talacogon and this unit.

In a statement, Lt Col Sandy R Majarocon, Commanding Officer of 26IB, warmly welcomed the surrenderees in their fearless decision to leave the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and surrender.

This recent surrender is a big blow to the remaining CTGs in the area of operations of 26IB that further lessened their numbers and weakened their group.
