CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The Philippine Army Dragon Warriors won the overall championship during the 3rd Motor Ace-Kagay-an Dragon Boat Fiesta Race held at Cagayan de Oro River on August 20-21, 2022.
The powerhouse team scored a grand slam after winning in all three events, the Obstacle Course, Men’s Open and Mixed Categories. They bested 26 other teams from various parts of the country.
LtCol Earl C Pardillo, the Officer-in-Charge, said that their team underwent a month-long preparation following their successive successes in Siargao Island and Manila races. This was their first time though to compete in CDO.
MGen. Wilbur C. Mamawag, the 4ID Commander, said that the Army’s entry in this year’s dragon boat competition in CDO is part of 4ID’s participation in the weeklong celebration of the Kagay-anon’s Higalaay festival. Likewise, he lauded the PA Dagon Warriors for their display of skills and sportsmanship, which is a proof that soldiers too can be a source of national pride in the field of sports.
