34 Former Underground Mass Organizations receive 2M Livelihood Assistance from DTI in Bukidnon

MARAMAG, BUKIDNON. 08 September – A total of 340 beneficiaries from 34 People’s Organization (POs) formerly supporting the Communist Terrorist Group in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon received Livelihood Assistance from Department of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the 88th Infantry (Maringal) Battalion at Municipal Gymansium, Poblacion, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon on September 8, 2022.

The said activity is aligned with the government’s Whole of Nation Approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict, an inter-agency convergence to counter insurgency. DTI as one of the agencies, launched a “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program”. This program aims to help the beneficiaries to generate income through Livelihood Programs. The POs received various livelihood packages such as: Agrivet Supply, Sari-Sari Store Kit, Agricultural Supply and Bigasan worth PhP2,584,939.04.

The said activity was attended by Hon Lolita N Obsioma, Municipal Mayor of Cabanglasan, Ms Famelach Raquel D Villanueva, OIC Provincial Director, DTI Bukidnon, Ms Glaiza A Caralde, Negosyo Center Business Counselor and LTC CHRISTIAN JAMES P VINGNO INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 88IB.

Alias Hannah, one of the beneficiaries of the said Livelihood assistance extended her heartfelt gratitude to the said government program. She said, “Nalipay ako sa pagtabang sa mga kasundaluhan og sa DTI sa among mga nagbalik-loob sa gobyerno labi na kay kini makatabang og dako sa among panginabuhian. Og tunod niani, magka Negosyo kami. (I am grateful for the help the Philippine Army and DTI have extended to us, former rebels. This will surely help us start a business to support our daily needs.)

Director Villanueva on her part thank the team of Charlie Company, 88IB for facilitating the needed requirements of the 34 POs that qualified them to be the beneficiaries of the DTI program. “Without the effort of the Philippine Army, the implementation of this program would have not been a reality”, she added.

LTC Vingno thanked the DTI leadership for providing the livelihood assintance to the FRs. ” Your ARMY as a partner in uplifting the lives of the least privilege members of our society will help DTI in monitoring that this program will be implemented by every beneficiary”, he added.
