Maramag Bukidnon –Elements of 88th Infantry (Maringal) Battalion acting on the information provided by the former rebels successfully discovered NPA Arms Cache composed of One (1) Caliber 30 Machine Gun and Five (5) AK47 in the hinterlands of Sitio Kaungahan, Barangay Cananga-an, Cabanglasan Bukidnon on September 13, 2022.
It can be recalled that on September 10, 2022 two (2) CTG members voluntarily surrendered to 88IB because of hardship they have encountered as a result of the continuous Focused Military Operation being conduct by the Philippine Army Units in the area.
Nadesisyon ko nga itug-an ang tanan, kay nakita ug nabati nako ang sinsiridad sa kasundalohan sa 88IB nga sila andam mudawat sa amoa ug mutabang bisan pa man nakasala mi sa gobyerno, ug kini ra butang nga akong nahibal-an na paamagi aron ipakita pud ang among sinsiridad sa pagbalik sa sabakan sa gobyerno, ingon pa ni alias SAM. (I decided to disclose everything I know about the movement because I have seen the genuine effort of the government to help us despite the many violations and abuses we have committed. This is my way of showing my sincerity to abandon the armed struggle and return to the folds of the law), alias SAM said.
LTC CHRISTIAN JAMES P VINGNO, Commanding Officer of 88IB in his statement said: “I recognize the effort of the former rebels who helped us in locating these firearms. It is an indication of their willingness to finally put a stop of this unfounded effort to throw a legitimate government. Your ARMY will ensure that they will receive the benefits entitled to them from the Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).” He also congratulated the troops for a job well done and encouraged them to continue to do their job with the same passion and dedication.
