58IB captures CPP-NPA Terrorist member in pursuit operation in MisOr

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – In a successful operation carried out by esteemed military forces, troops of the 58th Infantry (Dimalulupig) Battalion captured one (1) CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) during pursuit operation in Brgy Lawaan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental on July 30 , in the morning.

Just recently, 58IB troops clashed with the group of Dionesio Micabalo alias Muling, resulting to his death and capture of high powered firearms, personal belongings and other war materials. After which, 58IB launched pursuit operation to the fleeing enemy.

On 30 July in the morning, a concerned citizen informed the military regarding presence of unknown individual in Sitio Minlanag, Brgy Lawaan, Gingoog City. Upon validation of information, the troops who is currently conducting pursuit operation in the vicinity of Brgy Lawaan swiftly surrounded the said individual and left with no choice, captured by the troops of 58IB.

The captured CNT was identified as Rubin Palyares Bago alias Troy, a resident of Municipality of Carmen, Agusan del Norte and member of the Regional Operations Command of the Northern Central Mindano Committee (NCMRC) bringing with him his backpack containing Anti-Personnel Mines (APM). He was turned over to the Philippine National Police of Gingoog City in the evening, same day, for proper legal proceedings, ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions.

In a resolute effort to maintain peace and security within our area of responsibility, Lt. Col. Christian C Uy, Commanding Officer 58IB, along with the dedicated personnel of 58IB reaffirms their call to the remaining members of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) to surrender. “With unwavering determination, the battalion remains steadfast in tracking down the remaining individuals associated with the NPA, we reiterate our call to the remaining members of the CTGs to voluntarily surrender before it is too late or else end up with the same fate as Dionesio Micabalo alias Muling who was killed in recent encounter with our troops,” he emphasized.

“As we celebrate this significant achievement, we urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Together, we can continue to build a safer and more prosperous nation for all,” he added.
