The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division on Monday, August 7, reaffirmed its commitment to adhere to the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in a simultaneous flag raising with a commitment oath-taking ceremony held at the 4ID Headquarters in Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City.
Said activity was a kicked-off of the month-long observation of the IHL this month of August anchored in the theme “IHL: Gabay Sa Makataong Pagsulong ng Kapayapaan.”
Brig. Gen. Joel M. Paloma, the Assistant Commander of 4ID led the reading of the soldier’s Pledge of Reaffirmation of Commitment and Support to IHL, as well as the reading of the message of Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr.
“The soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines and Civilian Human Resources of the AFP reiterate our pledge and commitment towards the promotion of and adherence to the provisions of International Humanitatian Law. We will continue to carry out our duties and responsibilities to protect our citizens caught in the middle of armed conflicts and assure total respect for their human rights as postulated in the IHL,” the CSAFP said in a speech delivered by Brig. Gen. Paloma.
Moreover, the ceremony was also held simultaneously in 4ID line units in Northern Mindanao and Caraga region.
