TALAKAG, Bukidnon, July 5 (PIA) – To further promote the government efforts at addressing poverty and providing livelihood and employment opportunities particularly those living in far-flung area, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-10 has reitereated its all-out support to the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) chaired by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-10.

“PIA’s role here is to provide communication support to the initiatives of the RTF-ELCAC vis-a-vis the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) led by Secretary Martin M. Andanar who heads the Strategic Communication Cluster (StratCom) line of efforts of the NTF-ELCAC,” PIA-10 Regional Head Franklin P. Gumapon said.

It can be recalled that President Rodrigo R. Duterte issued Executive Order No. 70 (EO 70), institutionalizing the whole-of-nation-approach to end communist armed conflict which has plagued far-flung communities for years.

“PIA-10 has already conducted workshops to draft the communication plan in support of ELCAC. In fact, the communication activities identified for the purpose have already been approved by the Regional Development Council (RDC) upon endorsement of the RTF-ELCAC,” Gumapon pointed out.

He further added that PIA-10 is now in the process of implementing these information activities albeit hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the pandemic, other communication activities are still being pursued by the strategic communication cluster such as the production of news articles, feature stories, video news, social cards, and others all featuring the government’s efforts at ending local communist armed conflict.

“We are doing all this despite the pandemic because we all aim to end local communist armed conflict. This problem has been here for so long a time and it’s high time to end it so our fellow Filipinos can live peacefully in their respective communities,” he concluded. (VPSBautista/PIA10)
