Brigadier General Jose Augusto V Villareal, the Assistant Division Commander of the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division of the Philippine Army, visited the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division at Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City on August 1, 2024.
Upon his arrival, Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, the Commander of 4ID, received BGen. Villareal with the traditional military honor, along with select military Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Human Resource of the Command.
During his visit, BGen. Villareal was briefed on the division’s current operations and engaged in strategic discussions with MGen. Cuerpo and other key officers of 4ID. This emphasized the shared objectives and collaborative efforts between the two divisions. Additionally, the 2ID ADC interacted with the 4ID personnel, sharing insights and experiences from his time in 4ID and his current leadership roles.
BGen. Villareal and MGen. Cuerpo share a strong bond as they both hail from Lanao Del Sur and were classmates at the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990. Furthermore, BGen. Villareal has a significant connection with 4ID, as he previously served as a platoon leader and company commander of the 58th Infantry Battalion, 4ID, in the early years of his career.
BGen. Villareal expressed his gratitude to MGen. Cuerpo and the 4ID personnel for the warm welcome extended to him and his team. He also commended 4ID for its exceptional accomplishments and ongoing operational endeavors, which have set a high standard for excellence within the Philippine Army.
