DA 10, Different Seed Companies unite for the 2nd Ceremonial Onion Planting to Benefit Former Rebels

CAMP OSITO D BAHIAN, Malaybalay City – In a landmark show of solidarity, Department of Agriculture Region 10 in partnership with the 403rd Brigade under the leadership of Brigadier General Michele B Anayron Jr, PA Commander, 403Bde and seed companies namely Allied Botanical, Corp., Kaheko Seeds Corp., and Ramgo International seeds Corp. have come together to participate in the 2nd Ceremonial Onion Planting event aimed at supporting former rebels as they transition to peaceful and productive lives held at Peacemaker Farm, 403rd Brigade, Camp Osito Bahian, Brgy 10, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on September 10, 2024.

This initiative marks a significant step in fostering community of former rebels’ reintegration and sustainable agriculture. The DA with the participating seed companies provided seedlings, technical expertise and ongoing support to ensure the success of this agricultural venture.

The ceremonial planting is part of a broader program designed to integrate former combatants into society by offering them viable livelihood opportunities. This initiative is more than just planting onions; it’s planting the seeds of peace and prosperity for the FRs to achieve economic independence and stability.

Meanwhile, Colonel Antonio B Dulnuan Jr, the 403Bde Deputy Brigade Commander said in his message “This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration, by working together, we are not only providing former rebels with a means to rebuild their lives but also contributing to the development of sustainable agriculture in the region. As the onions grow, so too does the hope for a brighter, more peaceful future for those who have chosen to lay down their arms and embrace a new way of life”.
