The Joint Task Force Diamond, under the leadership of Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, reaffirmed its commitment to human rights principles during the observance of National Human Rights Consciousness Week in a simultaneous flag-raising and oath-taking ceremony held at the 4ID Headquarters in Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City, on December 2, 2024.
Additionally, the troops of Task Force Oro, led by Col. Warren C. Munda, Commanding Officer of Task Force Oro, participated in the kick-off ceremony with a motorcade from Paseo de Rio, Macasandig Boulevard, Cagayan de Oro City, to the 4ID Headquarters.
Meanwhile, Colonel Leo E. Bongosia, Officer-in-Charge of the Chief of Staff of 4ID, led the reading of the Soldiers’ Pledge of Reaffirmation of Commitment and Support to National Human Rights Consciousness Week, as well as the reading of the message from Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff, Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr.
In his message, the CSAFP emphasized the importance of the week as a poignant reminder of the security forces’ solemn duty to uphold and protect human rights.
“As members of the security forces, this week serves as a reminder of our commitment to protect and promote human rights. During this time, we reaffirm our dedication through the Panata sa Karapatang Pantao. This year’s theme, ‘Pagtataguyod Sa Sangkatauhan: Pagpapanatili ng Dignidad, Pagtatanggol sa Karapatan, at Pagsulong ng Kapayapaan,’ calls on each of us to reflect on our roles as guardians of human dignity and rights. As protectors of the people, let us continue to champion these principles in our daily duties, ensuring that every Filipino can live with the assurance that their rights are respected and protected,” Col. Bongosia read on behalf of the CSAFP.
In a statement, 4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II reiterated the importance of observing National Human Rights Consciousness Week and its role in reaffirming the Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to human rights protection. He called on all personnel to uphold the values of respect for human rights, ensuring that the nation’s security efforts are always aligned with these fundamental principles.
