4ID Culminates Christmas Sport Fest 2024

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, successfully concluded its annual Christmas Sports Fest through a simple closing ceremony held at the Montalvan Hall, 4ID Headquarters, Camp Evangelista, Brgy. Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

The Sports Fest’s activities aimed to promote physical fitness while fostering a spirit of camaraderie, teamwork, and discipline among 4ID troops. The event, which ran from October 15, 2024, brought together participants from various offices, and organic, post, and tenant units to compete in a series of exciting sports categories, culminating in a memorable and unifying celebration.

Troops were divided into seven color teams: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Maroon, Red, and Blue. These teams participated in various sports, including badminton, table tennis, squad run, triathlon relay, volleyball, basketball, and an All-Star basketball game. Ultimately, Team White and Team Yellow were declared the overall champions.

In addition to the athletic competitions, a foot march was conducted on December 5. This event tested the troops’ endurance and showcased solidarity among the participants.

During the closing ceremony, participants shared a traditional military boodle fight. The event also featured a raffle draw with exciting prizes generously donated by sponsors, which added an extra element of fun and excitement to the festivities.

Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of 4ID, congratulated the participating teams and underscored the significance of this activity in fostering a stronger, more resilient, and more united force that is always ready to serve the nation.

In his final Christmas message before bowing out of service early next year, Major General Cuerpo expressed deep gratitude to all Diamond Troopers for their friendship, sacrifice, and cooperation during his time as the Commander of 4ID.

“Daghang salamat sa atong pag-uban sa halos duha ka tuig. Thank you for the friendship, the sacrifices, and the time we spent together in every activity we held over the past years. I also appreciate your cooperation during my time as Commander of the 4th Infantry Division,” MGen. Cuerpo said.
