Criminal posing as an Army Officer nabbed during an entrapment operation

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – The 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion together with Gingoog City Police Station conducted a joint operation to capture a certain Christian Calustre Dollen, at Purok 5A, Pangasihan, Gingoog City, last September 05, 2021.

The suspect, Christian Dollen, posing as an officer of 58IB, Philippine Army, and a 23-year old resident of Barangay 13, Gingoog City was arrested for violating RA 10591 and RA 9516 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing In, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives.)

One unit of .45 Caliber pistol, one magazine of .45 caliber, 47 rounds of .45 caliber live ammunitions, one fired cartridge .45 caliber ammunitons, and two pieces 40 mm live ammunition were among the confiscated items.

58IB first received allegations from netizens that a man named Christian Dollen was scamming people by posing as a Philippine Army soldier, befriending them, and eventually borrowing money, only to disappear after a few weeks and never return the money borrowed.

Dollen is not a Philippine Army soldier, according to Lt. Col Ricky L Canatoy, Commanding Officer, 58IB. He merely claims to be so that he can go about his scamming business. Lt. Col. Canatoy also expressed gratitude to those who alerted 58IB to the situation, since it is definitely a case of authority usurpation. He then reassured the public that this unit, particularly the Philippine Army, does not tolerate criminal activity of this nature.

The suspect and the materials seized were taken to the Gingoog City Police Station for proper disposition and filing of charges against him.
