Magroyong, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur (Stn) – A New People’s Army (NPA) terrorist belong to SYP Platoon, Guerilla Front 19, SRC Southland, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) was killed in a firefight with the operating troops of the 75th Infantry “Marauder” Battalion, 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army in Km22, Brgy Caras-an, Tago, Surigao del Sur at about 12 o’clock in the afternoon of September 21, 2021.
This is a proof that the people of Tago are sincere to end the insurgency in their community wherein this unit received reports from concerned residents on the presence of the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) roaming around conducting extortion activity to the poor farmers and other constituents at said locality and forcing them to join and support their worthless ideology.
The engaged platoon reported that the firefight lasted for 5 minutes which resulted in the killing of one (1) NPA. Recovered at the encounter site after searching were one (1) M16 rifle with one (1) long and two (2) short magazines, one (1) Anti-personal mine, 50 meters electrical wire, 2 meters connecting wire, one (1) caliber 22 rifle, two (2) blasting caps, and seventy (70) rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition.
Lieutenant Colonel Jelson D Buyuccan, Commanding Officer of the 75IB stated, “We would like to thank the residents of Barangay Caras-an for these efforts as they provided the necessary information needed which led to the successful engagement against the NPA.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and friends of this killed communist-terrorists. It is sad that another fellow Filipino who was deceived by the CTGs died for fighting for the wrong ideology” Lt. Col. Buyuccan ended.
Meanwhile, the slain NPA member were being extracted from the area to be turn-over to their families.
