NPA Secretary, cohort slain in Misamis Oriental clash

Bancasi, Butuan City – New People’s Army (NPA) leader and Agusan’s top extortionist together with his cohort were killed in an encounter with the troops of 42nd MICO, another Operational-Control (OpCon) unit of the 402nd Infantry Brigade with Misamis Oriental PIU in the vicinity of Brgy Odiongan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental yesterday.

The government troops while conducting Intelligence Operation encountered approximately five (5) NPA terrorists, after a tipster reported that alleged NPA members were conducting extortion and imposing permit to campaign and permit to win (PTC/PTW) to candidates of the 2022 Local and National Elections. The encounter resulted to the neutralization of two (2) CNTs dead at the encounter site along with the seizing of one (1) Cal. 45 pistol; live ammunitions; one (1) hand grenade; and personal belongings.

Moreover, a Former Rebel identified the cadavers as Jelan Pinakilid y Binongcasan aka BAKING/MATRIX, Secretary, former GF4A, NCMRC and his wife, Darling Pinakilid y Bago, Medic, Sqd3, Pltn Sagay, NCMRC.

Facing multiple warrants of arrest, Jelan Pinakilid is one of the most wanted and notorious NPAs for the crime of murder, frustrated murder and rebellion. Warrants of arrest to Jelan Pinakilid are as follows: Case #s 17612, 2021-163,2021-164,2021-8247, & 2021-129.

“While we extend our sympathies to the families of those killed, let this be, once again a visible reminder that CPP-NPA’s ideology is no longer fighting for the rights of the people but instead, it promotes injustices and terrors that bring sufferings to our community. Indeed, this is a clear manifestation that if they won’t choose the path of peace, this is what’s going to happen to them. With this, we encourage all the remaining leaders and members to avoid the same fate by availing the E-CLIP of the government and to peacefully return to their families,” BGen Adonis Ariel Orio said.
