4ID celebrates Women’s Month by giving aid to Typhoon ‘Odette’ victims in Cagayan de Oro City

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – On March 9, Wednesday, in line with the Women’s Month celebration, the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division distributed relief packs to the victims of Typhoon Odette in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Finance Center Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AFPFC). The recipients were residents of Barangay Consolacion and Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, who all received 500 assorted relief goods, facilitated by all female soldiers.

Lupon Chairwoman Roxanne Roa Consuelo Fuentes of Brgy Consolacion, stated that she was amazed on seeing women soldiers leading the activity. She echoed her constituents’ sincere gratitude to the AFP for the assistance provided amidst the continuing challenges of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Staff Sergeant Marlycel Saliling, one of the women soldiers facilitators said that, “We are women and proud. Thus, we are thankful to our Commander, MGen. Wilbur Mamawag for empowering the women soldiers of 4ID. In an organization dominated by men, the role of women is equally given importance.

In a statement, 4ID Commander MGen. Wilbur Mamawag underscored the women soldiers’ participation in nation building and on how their active participation in uplifting the affected communities can be a source of inspiration.

Furthermore, MGen Mamawag lauded the AFPFC’s effort in continuously partnering with 4ID in providing assistance to typhoon victims. Last week, 500 assorted packs were also donated by the AFPCC to the different barangays of Surigao del Norte.
