2 CTG personalities yields to the Government troops in MisOr.

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – Two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered with one firearm to the 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion’s headquarters at Sitio Migbanday, Brgy. Poblacion, Claveria, Misamis Oriental on September 1, 2022.

The two CTG members were identified as Ednineo Basadre Oyan alias Jonel/Blake and Elvina Sagahay Hilogon alias Nix, and they both surrendered one M16 rifle. Said individuals revealed that their constant hiding, hunger, misery, and corruption among their leaders drove them to abandon the armed struggle and the desire to start their own families.

Lieutenant Colonel Ricky L Canatoy, Commanding Officer of 58IB, said, “I have mentioned months ago that three of the NPA units are on the verge of total collapse and I am happy to inform you that two of these NPA units were officially declared dismantled with only less than squad size remaining members and the other is for final deliberation for dismantling. These victories are highly attributed to the Whole of the Nation Approach as our collaborations with the stakeholders and other government forces in putting an end to insurgency in Misamis Oriental continues. Given their current circumstances, we anticipate that the remaining members of these NPA units will eventually return to the folds of the law in the coming days. Because they are constantly on the move, always tired and weary, the entry of their resources such as food and money are being blocked and hampered, and our troops are constantly conducting operations.”

Ltc Canatoy, lauds Ednineo and Elvina on their decision to return to the Government and leaving the armed struggle. He also hopes that the remaining NPA members in MisOr would do the same. Said CTG personalities are now currently undergoing custodial debriefing and processing for their inclusion in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).
