Madlos’ son and his wife died in an encounter in Bukidnon

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Vincent Isagani Madlos, the son of late top communist terrorist group (CTG) leader George Madlos, and his wife, Angie Polandres Salinas have died in an encounter against the troops of the 8th Infantry Battalion under the 403rd Infantry Brigade yesterday afternoon, 1: 00 pm, September 3, 2022, at Brgy Kapitan Bayong, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

“Madlos and Salinas were among the wanted top terrorist leaders being members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) Central Committee and Heads of the National Technical Bureau and National Communications Bureau of the National Operations Command (NOC), respectively. Additionally, Madlos had multiple warrants of arrests for the crimes committed from different areas in Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions,” Col Ted B Dumosmog, Officer-In-Charge of 403rd Infantry Brigade, said.

Col. Dumosmog disclosed that the combat group of the Joint Task Force Diamond (JTFD), composed of troops from 8IB and intelligence units, was conducting a special operation when a fifteen (15) minute firefight ensued against an undetermined number of CTGs that resulted in the death of the said CTG leaders and the recovery of two (2) AK47 Rifles as well as other war materiel and personal belongings.

In a statement, 4ID Commander MGen. Wilbur C. Mamawag said that successive neutralization of other CTG top leaders provides a clearer view of ending the local communist armed conflict in Northern Mindanao. He also said, “While I am a bit saddened with the tragic fate of the Madlos’ couple, it can also serve as a reminder for those remaining CTG members still hiding that they still have the opportunity to surrender and avoid the same outcome for them. Hence, we urge everyone, especially our peace partners, to continue rallying with us, and collectively provide our people a better place to live that is safe and conducive for sustainable development.”

It can be recalled that George Madlos, Head, NOC of the CTG nationwide, the former KOMMID spokesperson, and the top most wanted NPA commander in the country, was also killed during a combined and joint operation of the JTFD at the mountainous area of Sitio Gabunan, Brgy Dumalaguing, Impasugong, Bukidnon on October 30, 2021.
