4 CPP-NPA TERRORISTS NEUTRALIZED IN SURIGAO SUR

CARMEN, Surigao del Sur – Four CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) leaders of weakened Guerilla Front 30 (WGF 30), North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) were neutralized through surrender by the 36th Infantry “Valor” Battalion on January 6, 2023.

With no leadership at hand after the death of Noel “Megan” Tumarlas Alacre, former commander of Platoon 2, WGF 30, NEMRC last September 16, 2022, Ricky Mahinay, Vice-Commanding Officer; Jevan Quejada, Political Instructor, and Nickalyn Catapte, Platoon Medic, together with their Finance Officer, Ara Angeles were neutralized through the focused military and intelligence operations of 36IB led by Lt. Col. Michael Rey Reuyan.

Angeles who was identified as the partner of late Noel Alacre revealed that she was imprisoned inside their organization as she was not given the chance to mourn for her partner. Angeles was aggrieved by her husband’s death as Alacre was only used as Commander but was abandoned dead by their comrades. This led partners Mahinay and Catapte to surrender in order to escape the same fate as their leader, helping along Quezada to surrender with them. The said personalities were immediately interviewed and debriefed by 36IB after their surrender.

36IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Reuyan empathizes and warmly welcomed the surrenderers after being held captives and constrained by the same organization they had led. “Sila “Myra”, “Amara”, “Cheryl”, at “Rayray” ay taos pusong tinatanggap ng gobyerno sa kanilang pagbabalik. Sila’y biktima rin ng organisayong dating kinabibilangan. Sa mga nais pang sumuko, aming mamarapating tulungan at tatanggapin dito sa 36IB.”

The aforementioned personalities are now being assisted by the 901st Infantry “Fight Em” Brigade headed by Brig. Gen. George Banzon as they unveil their truth and in the process of returning as members of the mainstream society facilitated by the the DILG and DSWD Surigao del Sur under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
