4ID joins celebration of Eid al-Fit’r in CDO

The 4th Infantry Division joined the Muslim Community in celebrating the Eid al-Fit’r or the Feast of Breaking the Fast at the Post Islamic Mosque, Brgy. Patag, Cagayan de Oro City on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Maj. Gen. Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, attended the celebration’s Thanksgiving Program as the Guest of Honor and Speaker together with other 4ID Officers and Enlisted Personnel, local government officials, and the military Muslim community led by Lt. Col. Adzramien T. Sahisa, the 4ID Chaplain.

In his message, Maj. Gen. Cuerpo II said that the holy activity was an opportunity to reflect on the teachings of the holy month of compassion, unity and gratitude. “As members of the military, we are united on our mission to protect our country and secure the land. We serve with sense of duty, loyalty and sacrifice, and as Muslims we carry our faith as a source of strength, guidance and inspiration in our service to our nation,” he added.

He further stated that just as faith instills virtues,  courage, strength, and selflessness in every Muslim soldier, these same qualities are also the backbone of the Philippine Army. “Our military Muslim community is a shining example of unity in diversity, and a reminder to all of us that we are stronger together than we are apart,” Maj. Gen. Cuerpo II stated.

Eid al-Fitr is an Islamic festival that marks the end of Ramadan, a holy month when Muslims observe a strict daily fast from dawn until sunset. It is celebrated by Muslim communities worldwide.
