25 Former Rebels undergo Deradicalization, receive P 1.6M ECLIP Benefits in MisOr

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – A total of twenty-five (25) former rebels have completed the 10-day deradicalization program and received cash assistance amounting to P 1.6M under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) during the Deradicalization Program Closing Ceremony and ECLIP Awarding at the Halfway House, Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office, San Martin, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday, 24 May 2023.

The deradicalization program was formally opened on May 15 2023, with the participation of Engr. Marisia C Naybe, Provincial Director DILG; PCOL Gonzalo C Villamor, Provincial Director PNP MisOr; LTC Christian C Uy, Commanding Officer, 58IB.

The program consists of psychosocial activities such as Knowing-the-Self and Community workshops to include community immersion and team-building in order to assist them in social transformation and inclusive development. Also, included in their training were seminar on financial literacy and binangkal and taro chip making facilitated by DTI and TESDA, respectively. This inter-agency program aims to redirect the FRs outlook in life and allow them to live normal lives.

Meanwhile, Hon. Peter “Sr Pedro” M Unabia, Provincial Governor of Misamis Oriental, as the Guest Honor and Speaker, led the ceremonial awarding and cheque distribution of the ECLIP Benefits to the former rebels during the closing program. Each of the recipients received P65,000.00 worth of cheques consisting of P50,000.00 Livelihood Assistance, P15,000.00 Immediate Cash Assistance and P5,000.00 Financial Assistance from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office as additional support for their reintegration process.

“As you have seen, there is actually a government that is ready to help you. There are a lot of programs in the government you can avail of that could help you earn additional income. We hope that you will utilize wisely the financial assistance given to you in order to establish a new life with your family. The government is genuine to help you address your issues and concerns,” Governor Unabia said.

“The collaborative efforts of the different line agencies including the military and police play a vital role in the success of the program. You must educate the children that the military and police are not the enemy but our partners in peace-building,” he ended.

The unwavering support from the government and partner agencies represents the whole-of-nation approach to achieving inclusive and sustainable peace and development in the province of Misamis Oriental.
