The 4th Infantry Division led by Maj. Gen. Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II joined with the whole nation in the celebration of the 125th Philippine Independence Day by conducting a Simultaneous Flag Raising ceremony at 4ID Headquarters, Camp Evangelista, Brgy. Patag this city on Monday, June 12, 2023.
With the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.” said activity highlighted the sacrifices of our forefathers who showed bravery and gallantry to fight oppression and hardships to give the nation the ultimate freedom, and provide a brighter and peaceful future for the next generations. It was attended by other 4ID officers, Enlisted Personnel and Civilian Human Resource.
Col. Ted B. Dumosmog, the Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs (ADC RRA), who spearheaded the Flag Raising ceremony at 4ID Headquarters, delivered both the messages of Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff Gen. Andres C. Centino and Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr.
“The challenge before us is to transform their noble sacrifice into a meaningful reality – a peaceful and progressive Philippines, worthy of their dreams and aspirations. As we march towards the future, let us always remember the sacrifices of our heroes, let their courage and dedication be the beacon of inspiration, guiding our every step. On this 125th year of the Philippine independence, let us pay homage to our heroes for their bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. But let us not stop at remembrance, let us carry their legacy within us, living each day to make their sacrifices more meaningful. Together let us build a peaceful, progressive Philippines, a nation that reflects the dreams and aspirations of our heroes, a nation worthy of all that we celebrate and honor today,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the 4ID also joined in the Commemorative Rites and wreath-laying ceremony spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro led by City Mayor Rolando Uy at Dr. Jose Rizal Monument, Plaza Divisoria, CDO, and LGU Misamis Oriental led by Governor Peter Unabia at the Provincial Capitol Ground, Velez St., CDO. At the same time, different 4ID line units in Northern Mindanao and Caraga region also held a Flag Raising ceremony in connection with the said celebration.
