95 Youth joins 2nd Leg PLGU MisOr, 4ID Youth Leadership Summit 2023

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Ninety-Five (95) youth from the municipalities of Binuangan and Villanueva, all of Misamis Oriental, have joined the 2nd leg of the Provincial Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) 2023 held at the 10th Regional Community Defense Group (10RCDG) Headquarters, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City on August 25-27, 2023.

The summit is a program for the youth of PLGU MisOr and 4ID as the future of next generation and one of the most vulnerable sectors of our society. It empowers participants to become advocates for peace and grasp awareness on their crucial roles in nation-building, particularly the issues and challenges they are facing and in addressing the exploitation and deception of the communist terrorist group (CTG) to the youth.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Local Government Unit of Misamis Oriental through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, in partnership with the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, and with the support and assistance of Propelling Our Inherited Nation Through Youth Inc. (POINTY), the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operation of 4ID, 402nd Infantry Brigade, 58th Infantry Battalion, 16th Infantry Battalion, 4th Civil-Military Operation Battalion, and 10RCDG.

In his message, Hon. Peter Unabia, the Governor of Misamis Oriental, underlined the two successful 3-Day YLS as a true testament of the dedication, potentials, and enthusiasm of the youth to step out of their comfort zones in order to gain invaluable insights, cultivate leadership skills, and build connections for their future endeavors.

Meanwhile, Colonel Ted B Dumusmog, the Assistant Division Commander for Reservists and Retirees Affairs of 4ID represented the 4ID Commander MGen. Jose R Maria Cuerpo II during the closing ceremony.

Col Dumusmog, in his message, stated that the shared vision and commitment between 4ID and Misamis Oriental resulted in the incredible partnership and collaboration. Likewise, He underscored the invaluable contribution and efforts of the youth as a catalyst for change and stress the role of today’s leaders, government agencies and the parents to empower the youth.

 “In this digital age, you have access to multiple mediums, to freely express yourself and utilize your talents to make a good impact. However, you also have the power to help a country develop and move towards progress and bring social reform. We empower you to become the agents of change and peace, because we depend on your determination, including your action to build an essential picture amidst diversity. The future of our country lies in the hands of our youth, it is our collective duty as mentors, educators, and guardians to empower them and equip them with the knowledge to become the leaders of our nation’s needs,” Col Dumusmog said.

On August 18-20, 2023, the 1st Leg of YLS was conducted at the same venue and participated by 100 youth from the municipalities of Salay, Villanueva and Jasaan, all in Misamis Oriental, which also provides awareness on the topics: Basic Life Support, Teenage Pregnancy, Mental Health Awareness, Drug Prevention, Leadership Principles, Skills and Development Training, and Social Media Policies.
