989 individuals receive medical services from Philippine Army, partner agencies

LIANGA, Surigao del Sur — The 3rd Special Forces “Arrowhead” Battalion (3SFBn), Philippine Army along with Agusan del Sur and SDS, Provincial Police Offices, LGU-Prosperidad, ADS and Lianga, SDS, and the Assembly of God conducted a series of medical mission from September 12-14, 2023, in Sitio Tibog, Brgy. Mabuhay, Prosperidad Agusan del Sur and Brgy. Das-agan, San Francisco, Surigao del Sur and Sitio Langcog, Brgy. Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.

Over the course of three days, the medical mission provided free medical check-ups, dental services, circumcision, eye check-ups, COVID-19 vaccinations, and free medicines to the target beneficiaries. The theme of the mission, “Building Communities. Creating Opportunities.” aimed to promote a Whole of Nation approach in areas vulnerable to exploitation by the communist terrorist group (CTG).

Lt. Col. Baylon, the Commanding Officer of 3SFBn, commended the local leaders, NGO, and partner stakeholders who collaborated in providing the much-needed healthcare to residents of conflict-affected areas which contibuted to the well being of the communities. Lt. Col. Baylon emphasized that by bringing the government closer to the people through convergence activity such as this, will make insurgency irrelevant.

Furthermore, BGEN FRANCISCO F LORENZO JR PA, the 401st Brigade Commander, expressed his appreciation to the 3rd Special Forces Battalion, under the leadership of LTC PAULO F BAYLON INF (GSC) PA, and other stakeholders for their time and efforts in order to make this laudable activity a success.

“I hope our partnership and collaboration with other government agencies and organizations will result to more activities like this, to be able to provide the needed services of communities in our AOR,” General LORENZO JR added.
