Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division and the Chairperson of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict 10 Technical Working Group (RTF ELCAC-10 TWG), encouraged all members to remain laser-focused on the task force’s mission in spite of challenges, as the group convened anew for its 3rd Quarter 2023 meeting at the Alcoseba Hall, 4ID Headquarters, Brgy. Patag, Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Since its creation, the RTF ELCAC-10, comprising different government agencies, including 4ID, has been working tirelessly to collectively address and eradicate the root causes of the insurgency, which yielded significant strides in its efforts to facilitate peace and development, especially in the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) and other vulnerable communities in the region.
Despite facing various obstacles that tested the resolve of the task force, MGen. Cuerpo said these challenges are paramount to the task force’s determination to achieve their objectives. He reiterated that even with the difficulties, the RTF ELCAC is unwavering in its commitment to finally put an end to the decades-long local communist armed conflict in the region.
“We just remain focused on the objectives of this Technical Working Group. Our dream is to be able to help in providing and achieving the dreams of the people in making Northern Mindanao a peaceful region to live in. Let’s focus on that and let us not be disturbed by the different issues that are yet to be resolved,” he added.
During the meeting, different clusters or task groups headed by Regional Directors or their Representatives from the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Region X (NICA-X), Department of the Interior and Local Government Unit Region X (DILG-X), Philippine Information Agency Region X (PIA-X), The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region X (TESDA-X), Department of Public Works and Highways Region X (DPWH-X), Department of Justice Regional Prosecution Office X (DOJ-RPO X), and the 403rd Infantry Brigade under 4ID presented their accomplishments since July 2023 up to this date, as well as the issues and concerns that they are currently resolving and their action plans.
Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, the Regional Director of NEDA-10, and Director Wilhelm M. Suyko, the Regional Director of the DILG-10, both Co-Head Secretariat of the RTF ELCAC 10, who also graced the quarterly meeting, expressed their gratitude to the 4ID for its untiring support in the task force’s endeavors.
