CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division led the Donning of Ranks to three (3) newly-promoted personnel of the 8th Infantry Battalion, during his visit in far-flung Forward Operating Detachment (FOD) Saldab at Sitio Budaan, Dumalaguing, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon on October 20, 2023.
FOD Saldab, nestled in one of the most remote uninhabited mountain top in the province, is accessible solely by foot due to the absence of roads. Its establishment serves as a testament to the dedication of the 4ID in sustaining military operations in the farthest and most challenging areas of its Area of Responsibility, which happen to be at the core of the communist terrorist group’s (CTG) traditional hideouts and routes.
During this visit, Maj. Gen. Cuerpo II addressed the troops, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to peace and development within the province. He further commended their relentless efforts in fulfilling their mandate, which plays a pivotal role in the government’s mission to put an end to the local communist armed conflict.
Meanwhile, he emphasized to the newly-promoted personnel the significance of the new responsibility and challenges that comes with their elevated ranks.
Said field visitations to troops assigned to various remote posts are part of Maj. Gen. Cuerpo’s thrust to ensuring high operational readiness and boosting the morale and welfare of the troops.
In recent months, Maj. Gen. Cuerpo II has also visited the FOD Kamalangan in Brgy. Binicalan, San Luis, Agusan del Sur, and the FOD Sinamparong in Brgy. Poblacion 2, Santiago, Agusan del Norte. These visits were made to personally assess the soldiers’ situations and convey the 4ID’s unwavering commitment to promoting the well-being of the Diamond troopers.
