CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – No less than His Excellency, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. confered Campaign Streamers to four (4) line units of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division for dismantling guerilla fronts of the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Northern Mindanao and Caraga region, during the celebration of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ 88th Founding Anniversary held at General Headquarters, Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on December 21, 2023.
Credited for dismantling CTG’s Platoon Falcon, Sub-Regional Committee 1 of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee, the campaign streamers were presented to the 58th Infantry Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Christian C. Uy and the 402nd Infantry Brigade under Brigadier General Adonis Ariel G. Orio. Meanwhile, the 30th Infantry Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Jerold H. Jale and the operational control unit 901st Infantry Brigade under Colonel Arsenio DC Sadural were also confered campaign streamers for dismantling the Guerilla Front 16, SRC Northland of the CTG’s North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee.
In the AFP, the campaign streamers are awarded to Joint Task Forces, brigades and battalions to recognize their exceptional accomplishments in internal security operations for the dismantling of guerilla fronts and neutralization of armed components of the CTG.
In his statement, 4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II expressed his profound gratitude to PBBM and the AFP leadership for extending full support to the JTF Diamond’s endeavors especially in ending local communist armed conflict. He also lauded the units that were given recognition for exemplifying bravery and dedication to dismantle CTG formations in their area of operations.
“The unwavering dedication of the Diamond troopers to push forward despite challenges is what makes this counter-insurgency journey more worthwhile. As we continue this campaign, we are determined enough to strive harder to gain more victories against the CTG in the days to come. Together with the sustained engagement of our stakeholders and the people under the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and the strong guidance of AFP’s leadership, we assure our people to bring lasting peace and inclusive development especially in geographically-isolated, disadvantage and vulnerable areas in Region 10 and 13,” Maj. Gen. Cuerpo II said.
