

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Almost 200 Ready Reserve Unit Commanders, Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Commandants, and Corps Commanders across Mindanao had gathered for a 2-day RRU Commanders Convention and Levelling at 4ID Headquarters, Camp Evangelista, Brgy. Patag, Cagayan de Oro City on November 16-17, 2024.
The 10th Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command, led the activity which aimed to strengthen the operations of the reserve force in support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in times of war or national emergencies such as Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations, as rooted in the principles of the Citizens Armed Forces of the Philippines Reservist Act.
During the convention, the participants were engaged in a series of discussions and workshops that focused on equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of the policies and programs on Reserve Force Development, further enhancing their roles, knowledge, and skills in reserve force operations.
Major General Romulo A. Manuel Jr., Commander of Rescom, and Brigadier General Benjamin Hao, Commander of Civil-Military Operations Regiment took part in the said convention to ensure sustained support for the ongoing development of the reserve force.
In his message during the Closing Ceremony, delivered by Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla, the Assistant Division Commander of 4ID, Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of 4ID highlighted the role of army reservists as essential and irreplaceable for national defense, particularly in cases of invasion, rebellion and other critical emergencies where swift support is needed.
“As we examined the roles and responsibilities of our reserve units in supporting our active forces, we also embraced innovation by adopting new technologies and practices that will undoubtedly shape the future of our reserve force. The sharing of best practices in personnel management, logistics, and training will continue to elevate our standards and enhance our capacity to support the campaigns of the Philippine Army. Thanks to the comprehensive training programs conducted for the RRU, we are now more equipped and capable of fulfilling our mission to serve and protect our nation,” He added.
