The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division successfully conducted a 2-day NCO Leaders’ Symposium on November 28-29, 2024, at the 4ID Headquarters, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.
The symposium, designed to strengthen the capacity and influence of NCOs, was attended by key NCO leaders, including the Sergeants Major of the division’s organic and operational control Infantry Brigades and Battalions.
Senior Master Sergeant Rey A. Viña, the Division Sergeant Major, emphasized the significance of the event in shaping the future of leadership within the Army. He highlighted that NCOs play a vital role in maintaining discipline and operational excellence with the tools and knowledge necessary to further enhance their effectiveness within their units.
In a statement, Colonel Leo E. Bongosia, the Division Inspector General and Acting Chief of Staff of 4ID, underscored the importance of continuous professional development for NCOs.
“We must ensure that our NCOs are well-equipped to lead, train, and mentor their soldiers, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability within the 4ID,” Colonel Bongosia stated.
Meanwhile, Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, stressed the crucial role of NCOs in shaping the future success of 4ID. He stated that NCOs are the backbone of the division’s operations, and their leadership and dedication are essential in achieving mission goals, as well as maintaining the discipline and readiness of the troops.
The symposium marks another step in the 4ID’s commitment to professionalizing and empowering its non-commissioned officers, ensuring that they continue to serve as effective leaders and mentors within the Philippine Army.
