CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division successfully launched its Sportsfest at the Camp Evangelista, Brgy. Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, on May 27, 2025, with a remarkable display of unity, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie.
The activity kicked off early in the morning with a parade from Montalvan Hall to the 4ID Grandstand, participated in by officers, enlisted personnel, civilian human resources, and special guests from the Australian Defense Force. The march symbolized teamwork and endurance, setting the tone for the succeeding sports competitions.
This year’s Sportsfest was made even more meaningful with the active involvement of our Australian friends, who not only joined the parade but also participated in friendly games and bonding activities, further strengthening the spirit of partnership and military cooperation between the two nations.
Various events were held during the Sportsfest, including parlor games, pickleball, badminton, table tennis, triathlon relay, volleyball, basketball, squad run, and an All-Star Basketball Game. Troops were grouped into color-coded teams: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Maroon, Purple, Red, and Blue encouraging friendly rivalry and fostering esprit de corps among 4ID personnel. The presence of the Australian soldiers added a unique cultural and professional exchange dimension to the event, underscoring the value of shared experiences in building lasting relationships between allied forces.
In his remarks, Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr., Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, expressed his gratitude to all participants especially the Australian guests for their support and enthusiasm.
“We place great importance on effort and ambition, fully aware that both victory and defeat are real possibilities. Victory is never guaranteed, and defeat is sometimes inevitable. What truly matters is how we respond to both outcomes with grace, dignity, and resilience. Not every endeavor assures success; we will encounter frustrations and disappointments along the way. Yet, what’s essential is that we play fair, give our best, and remain committed to the values we uphold. This Sportsfest is not only a celebration of physical fitness and unity among our troops but also a symbol of the strong bond between our forces and our international partners,” said Major General Anayron Jr.
The 4ID Sportsfest 2025 stands as a testament to the division’s commitment to fostering discipline, resilience, and international cooperation through sports and shared activities.
