The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 10 (DSWD-10) have joined forces in an intensified campaign to combat the spread of fake news and misinformation across Northern Mindanao through the conduct of ‘Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon’ (3TI) Service and Information Caravan in Brgy. Canangaan, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon on Friday, May 23, 2025.
The activity served as a venue to introduce official channels designed to provide credible, up-to-date information from the government especially various programs and projects of both organizations.
Both 4ID and DSWD-10 committed to strengthening their information dissemination strategies for residents in the region to avoid falling victim to false narratives. Said partnership underscored the importance of accurate information in fostering peace and development, and informed citizen participation.
Aside from Brgy. Canangaan, residents of Brgy. Iba, an adjacent community, also benefited from the said information caravan.
Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr., Commander of 4ID along with Brigadier General Seigfred C. Tubalado, Commander of 403rd Infantry Brigade; Colonel Ricky L. Canatoy, OIC, G7 of 4ID; and battalion commanders of 4ID line units in Bukidnon attended the activity which was initiated by DSWD-10 under the leadership of Regional Director Ramel F. Jamen. Also in attendance during the event were Cabanglasan Mayor Lolita N. Bullecer and barangay officials of Brgy. Canangaan and Brgy. Iba.
Dir. Jamen stated that the agency wanted to ensure that the right messages will reach even the farthest communities such as the Geographically-isolated and Disadvantaged Areas, and formerly conflict-affected areas in the region.
Meanwhile, in his message, Maj. Gen. Anayron emphasized the crucial role of truthful information in national security efforts. He added that false information only hinders the government’s endeavor in achieving lasting peace in the region, as fake news not only misleads people but also endangers innocent lives.
“As we continue to secure GIDAs and conflict-affected communities in our AOR and link significant programs and projects to these vulnerable areas, we will not allow false information or fake news to come in the way. It is part of our mission to be a source of accurate, timely, and relevant information for every Filipino as we strengthen national security and promote public trust,” he added.
In addition, residents and Former Rebels under the 403rd Infantry Brigade also received basic services and assistance from DSWD during the caravan.
