The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office, recently held a successful 2-day Gender Analysis Tools Review and Gender Mainstreaming, Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessment, and Planning (GMMEAP) Workshop at the Officer’s Clubhouse, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, on December 4-5, 2024.
The primary goal of the workshop was to review and enhance the gender analysis tools currently used by 4ID and strengthen the integration of gender considerations into military operations, planning, and policies.
The event was attended by key personnel from 4ID, including officers, enlisted personnel, representatives from various line units of brigades, and battalions under the operational control of 4ID. These participants are directly involved in the Army’s gender and development initiatives.
Major Daisy P. She highlighted the critical need for creating an inclusive environment that supports gender equality.
“This two-day review and planning session is essential in refining our strategies and ensuring that gender equality is deeply embedded in all aspects of our operations. Gender mainstreaming is not just a process, it is vital for understanding and addressing the diverse needs of the communities we serve, particularly in areas where we are deployed,” Major Baguio said.
Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, also voiced his full support for the initiative. He reinforced the importance of gender inclusivity within the 4ID, stating that the division is steadfast in its commitment to promoting gender equality and integrating gender perspectives into every aspect of its operations.
“At the 4th Infantry Division, we recognize that gender equality is not just a matter of policy, but a key component in strengthening our ability to serve effectively and with empathy to the communities we engage with. Our troops remain dedicated to advancing gender inclusivity and ensuring that every individual is respected and empowered,” Major General Cuerpo remarked.
The workshop ended with a review of gender analysis tools and discussions on best practices for integrating gender considerations. It also focused on strategies for monitoring, evaluation, and planning of the 4ID’s broader efforts to not only protect national security but also prioritize the welfare, rights, and dignity of all individuals, including promoting gender equality.
The successful completion of the event highlights the 4ID’s ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and empowerment in all aspects of its service.
