Division Public Affairs Office of 4ID Conducts 5-Day Social Media News Production Forum

The Division Public Affairs Office of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, in partnership with the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations (OG7), successfully facilitated a 5-Day Social Media News Production Forum from November 25 to 29, 2024, at the 4ID Officer’s Clubhouse, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

The forum’s primary goal was to institutionalize 4ID News as the division’s official news network, with an emphasis on enhancing public engagement through the creation and distribution of accurate, timely information. It provided CMO operators, primarily from Battalion and Brigade Civil-Military Operations sections, with essential skills in news creation, including gathering, writing, editing, photography, and video production. These operators are expected to establish news teams within their respective units, contributing to the expanding 4ID News network and strengthening their units’ Public Affairs efforts.

Over the course of the training, participants engaged in an in-depth discussions and practical workshops aimed at sharpening their skills in news production. Through hands-on exercises, they learned news writing, editing, photography, video production, and story creation. Interactive workshops further enhanced their abilities, allowing participants to gain valuable experience in news creation and distribution.

4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, through Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla, Assistant Division Commander, delivered a message highlighting the importance of mastering news gathering and production techniques.

Brigadier General Yecla emphasized that the forum was part of the division’s broader strategy to dominate the information environment, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of information to the public.

“I urge you to embrace this opportunity with vigor and dedication. Let us look ahead with optimism and determination. I challenge you to apply what you have learned, not only in showcasing our activities but also in becoming champions of truth, advocates of transparency, and protectors of the narratives that uphold the values as soldiers of the Filipino people,” Brigadier General Yecla said, encouraging participants to use their new skills for the benefit of their units and the over-arching mission of the 4ID.

By equipping participants with the tools and knowledge to create and distribute news, the forum aimed to elevate the Public Affairs efforts within their units. This initiative will enhance the visibility of 4ID operations, foster greater public engagement, and ensure the accurate and timely delivery of information, thereby strengthening the division’s connection with the community.
